GCFD 7 seeks volunteers for voter pamphlet committees
SOAP LAKE--Grant County Fire District 7 is seeking residents interested in serving on committees that will prepare arguments for and against the district's upcoming Emergency Medical Services levy proposition on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
The district recently adopted a resolution asking voters to increase its EMS levy by 25 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value to a rate of 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value for an additional six years, beginning in 2027.
Citizens interested in serving on either the pro or con committee are asked to call the district at 509-246-0321 by Aug. 4, 2026. Committee appointments must be submitted to Grant County that same day.
"We'd like to invite members of the public within our fire district to participate in the committee process," Fire Chief Erick Brittain said.
Committee members will be responsible for preparing a statement of up to 250 words for the local voters' pamphlet, the chief explained.
"We look forward to everyone's input on our ballot measure,” Brittain said.
