Richard ‘Dick’ Scoggin
Richard “Dick” Scoggin, 100 years old, passed away peacefully July 2, 2026.
Dick was born on Scoggin Ridge in the Blue Mountains south of Pomeroy, Wash., on Sept. 23, 1925, to Herman Scoggin and Jenny Weisner Scoggin. He attended school in a one-room school on Scoggin Ridge until high school, and then Pomeroy High School. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he became an electrician and later a research and development technician for Battelle NW.
Dick was a man of many talents from flying RC airplanes to making small furniture pieces. He could fix almost anything and was sometimes called “Mr. Fixit.”
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Roylene Watkins, and daughters Deborah Dahlen (James) of Federal Way, Wash., Lisa Duncan of Richland, Wash., and Tamra Berg (Ken) of Sparks, Nev.; four grandchildren Tyson, Marisa, Lori and Matthew; and two great-grandchildren Zach and Miette. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters and daughter Lorilee.
A celebration of life will be held July 30 at 11 a.m. at the Warden Community Church. Memorials may be made to the Warden Community Church, Warden, Wash.
