BASIN EVENTS: February 2026

COLUMBIA BASIN — We’re swinging into February with lots to do in the Basin. Here’s a little of what’s happening this month. 

Jan. 30 

Winter Scene in Charcoal 

Learn the techniques of working with charcoal while bringing a snowy winter landscape to life. Class is for ages 14 and older. $21 per person. 2-3:30 p.m. at Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, 401 S., Balsam St. Info: 509-764-3830. 

Spooky Movie Night

Jan. 31  

Sweethearts Market  

Shop for sweets and Valentine’s gifts. Presented by the Moses Lake Farmers Market. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Grant County Fairgrounds, 3953 Airway Drive NE, Moses Lake. Info: 509-237-2100.  

Ephrata FFA Alumni and Supporters Silent Auction 

Join Future Farmers of America for a Vegas-themed silent auction. Dinner by A-Crew Catering. All proceeds go toward FFA sponsorships and student scholarships. Feb. 2 

Axolotl Hide and Seek 

Children, tweens and teens are invited to celebrate the National Day of the Mexican Axolotl, observed on Feb. 1, and find tiny axolotls hidden around the library for a prize. There will also be an axolotl-themed craft. 4-5:30 p.m. at Moses Lake Library, 418 E. Fifth Ave. Info: 509-765-3489. 

Feb. 4 

Seahawks Paint Night 

Fan paint night with Rustic Girl Painting to celebrate the Super Bowl-bound Seahawks. Painters are encouraged to wear 12th man gear. Prizes are given for the best team spirit. Feb. 5 

Moses Lake Non-Profit Meetup 

All Moses Lake non-profits and service organizations are welcome. Share what your organization is all about, what your current needs are and network with other local nonprofits. One lucky nonprofit will win $100 donation from Care Moses Lake. Bring your own lunch. 12 p.m. at the Downtown Moses Lake Association office, 205 S. Division St. Info: 509-770-1002. 

An evening with Derek Sheffield 

Join Washington’s Poet Laureate for a live reading of his work, followed by an open question-and-answer session where you can explore his creative process, inspirations, and the role poetry plays in our communities. Whether you’re a lifelong poetry lover or simply curious about the art of language, this event offers a rare chance to connect with one of Washington’s leading literary voices. 5 p.m. at Ritzville Public Library, 302 W. Feb. 6 

Free Family Movie 

“Wicked for Good”: The epic finale to the untold story of Oz begins. Elphaba, long misunderstood as the Wicked Witch of the West, fights for truth from the shadows. Glinda, beloved symbol of goodness, shines in Emerald City. But when the people of Oz rise up, these two powerful women must reunite, face the truth about each other and change the fate of Oz for good. Rated PG. Tacos for Tuition 

Help students get a Catholic education by supporting the Fr. Kerr Scholarship Fund. Dinner by Maggie’s Kitchen, plus live entertainment, games and activities. Proceeds enable students with financial need to attend St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. St. Rose is open to students of all faiths and does not turn students away based on ability to pay. Feb. 7 

Waypoint Foundation Chess Tournament

Valentine Kids’ Story Time

Feb. 21 

Autism Movie Day: ‘GOAT’ 

Autism-friendly screening of the animated film “GOAT,” the story of a small goat who gets a chance to pursue big dreams. Lights and sound will be lowered for sensory-friendly viewing, and there will be a little extra room for viewers with the wiggles. Tickets and rules available at bit.ly/AutismGOATmovie. Checkered Chunky Blanket Workshop 

Learn how to create a checkered chunky blanket, plus how to make and add embellishments. Participants who don’t finish their blanket at the event will leave with the knowledge and written instructions to finish it at home. Soroptimist Bingo

Feb. 27-28 

Columbia Basin Home & Garden Show 

Whether you’re planning spring home projects, dreaming of spring gardens, looking for fresh inspiration, or just love browsing artisan vendors, sipping coffee and connecting with the community, this event has something for everyone.
