MOSES LAKE — The timeline and cost for repair – or replacement of the Hansen Road overpass west of Moses Lake will depend, in part, on whether the Washington State Department of Transportation decides to repair or replace it. Either way, said Chris Kiefenheim, administrator for WSDOT’s North Central Region, the overpass will be closed for a while.

“Obviously, we need to figure out a solution to restore that traffic over the interstate. One solution is rehabbing the existing bridge,” Keifenheim said at the Moses Lake City Council meeting Tuesday. “(The second) option is replacing the bridge with a new bridge.”

The overpass was closed Jan. 17 after an inspection found significant damage resulting in safety concerns. Keifenheim said WSDOT officials were most concerned with pieces of concrete falling onto Interstate 90 below.
