Othello man sentenced in child porn case
OTHELLO — An Othello man was sentenced to more than three years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to two counts of dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexual conduct.
Juan Marcos Hernandez-Arciniega, 30, was sentenced to 41 months, according to a statement from the Othello Police Department. Hernandez-Arciniega was arrested in September following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
“During a post-arrest interview, Hernandez-Arciniega admitted to possessing child sex abuse material and sharing it on social media platforms,” the OPD release said.
Police seized two phones that he allegedly used to disseminate the images when Hernandez-Arciniega was arrested. He denied ever physically assaulting a child, the release said.
While investigating, police found 45 separate instances connected to Hernandez-Arciniega through NCMEC, the release said. There was no evidence that he produced any of the material, it said.
“Investigators found no evidence that any of the child victims were local to the Othello area,” it said.
