LETTER: A poor example
Dear editor,
I enjoyed your recent article in the Columbia Basin Herald supporting the First Amendment. However, I am shocked to see that the Administration is invading a reporter's home, grabbing her notes, phone and computer.
I carried out our Moses Lake demonstrations signs that read: "No Kings!," "Resist!," and "Trump is Chaos!" But recently Trump has given the middle finger to a protester and said,"(Expletive) you!" When the U.S. President sets this example, it is hard not to follow suit. His administration is a disgrace and we must oppose it every way, every day.
Sincerely,
Richard Teals
Moses Lake
Editor's Note: Mr. Teals is referring to a column I recently wrote entitled "Using First Amendment rights responsibly." In that column, I encouraged everyone to use civil language when protesting or discussing politics. I would say the President is included in that, along with the person he had the disagreement with when touring a factory. Both behaved in a less than civil manner and we can do better as a nation and here in our own community. It's cliché, but two wrongs don't make a right.
Take care of each other out there,
