LETTER: We're better for Mike’s presence...

| January 14, 2026 10:47 AM

Sunday, December 28,,2025, our community lost an incredible icon. Mike Hamilton’s impact on our community and those who reside here is immeasurable. As a very young man, Mike started his restaurant career buying the old A&W and from there it blossomed into Michael’s on the Lake, Rock Top and Michael’s Bistro. All three of these restaurants are institutions in the development and attraction of Moses Lake.

However, with ALL of Mike’s food service success it was his passion to serve which had the greatest impact on Moses Lake and its residents. Mike and his dear wife, Krista, quietly supported and served not only their numerous employees but also countless people from the community needing a helping hand. That service and support was always provided without fanfare or recognition and most times anonymously as was the humble “Hamilton Way.” If you had the honor of sincerely knowing Mike Hamilton, you knew he was a man inspired to quietly help and serve others.

Twenty years ago, Mike and Krista’s son, Jordan, became an integral part of the Hamilton team, not only a partner but also as Mike’s best friend. The three Hamiltons have had an indelible impact on this community for which Mike humbly would not want any fanfare. Very few communities are blessed with a Mike Hamilton, and his vision of service and its impacts to be felt for years to come. Fortunately, Mike’s and Krista’s extraordinary legacy is in excellent and capable hands with Jordan, Manuel, Mikey and Lindsey.

The Columbia Basin is and will be better for your lifelong love for this area and those whom you have served for almost 50 years. Thank you for being an example and treasured friend, Mike, I am a better person having known you. Until we meet again, “Rest well thy good and faithful servant.”
