Diana Spofford

Diana Lynne Spofford went home to serve our Lord in the early morning of Dec. 27. 

She was born Diana Lynne Stone on Aug. 18, 1952, in Charleston, W. Va., to Ronald and Oreeda (McGraw) Stone. Diana passed away peacefully Dec. 27, 2025, at home in Soap Lake, Wash., surrounded by her family. 

In the early ’50s Diana’s family moved from West Virginia to the Leavenworth, Wash., area. She was the oldest of six siblings growing up in Leavenworth, Wash., where she spent many years working in agriculture, particularly in the apple orchards. This orchard experience benefited Diana in later life where she managed various orchards and owned an orchard in the Quincy and Mattawa areas.

In the early 2000s Diana and her husband of 40 years, (Pastor) Oscar Danforth, relocated to a small ranchette out of Soap Lake, Wash. From this base Diana worked for Washington State Child Protective Services, CPS, and devoted much of her life to caregiving. She was strong in her faith, loved her church family, taught Sunday School and assisted in church operations. 

Diana cherished her family and friends. She especially enjoyed creating memories with her grandchildren through camping trips, movies, and everyday moments filled with love and laughter. She was actively involved in 4-H and enjoyed participating in rodeo events with her granddaughter, Sara. Her ranchette was used by numerous youth to acquire and practice for their rodeo experience. 

She was preceded in death by her late husband Oscar Henry Danforth, her father Ronald Stone, her mother Oreeda Ramsey, her stepfather David Ramsey and her sisters LaVonne Noble and Pam Puffenbar. Diana is survived by her husband Tom Spofford of Soap Lake, Wash.; and her siblings Cheryl Reeser of Redmond, Wash., Sandra Lachowsky of Kirkland, Wash., and Ron Stone of Wenatchee, Wash. She leaves behind her family members: her daughter, Karen Roseto of Ephrata, Wash.; her son, Scott Watson of Soap Lake, Wash.; her three granddaughters, Sara Ray (Kevin) of Soap Lake, Wash., Samantha Chipperfield (Vern) of Moses Lake, Wash., and Elizabeth Bolanos of Cheney, Wash.; and her grandson Cody Miller of Ephrata, Wash. Great-Grandma also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Colton, Chloe, Brodie, Gracie, Bear and Sunny-Mae. 

Diana’s warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her love created a legacy of joy and memories that will live on in the hearts of her family for generations. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Diana on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at the Ephrata Bread of Life Church at 140 14th Ave. NW, Ephrata, Wash. The family expresses a blessing to Hospice of Moses Lake for the care and comfort provided to our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in her final days of preparation for her journey to our Lord and Savior. Donations in memory of Diana may be made to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation in Moses Lake or the American Cancer Society.
