MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Museum & Art Center is inviting the public to its Frosty Finds Flea Market and Appraisal Fair on Saturday, where some appraisal slots remain open for anyone curious about the value or history of their antiques and collectibles.

The event, now in its third year, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Moses Lake Civic Center. The museum is again partnering with appraiser Grant Zahajko, whose quick assessments and deep knowledge have drawn steady crowds in past years.

Zahajko, who co-owns Grant Zahajko Auctions LLC in Davenport, Washington, is a third-generation auctioneer. He has spent 35 years specializing in sports cards, sports memorabilia, coins, toys, artwork, ephemera and antiques, according to his website.

Museum staff say the appraisal fair has become a popular winter tradition.

“There was such a need in the community to have an expert come in,” said Creative Programs Coordinator Jenni Shelton. “People bring in everything from family heirlooms to treasures they found for a few dollars at a garage sale. It’s fascinating to watch him work.”

Zahajko will appraise most items, including artwork, jewelry, dolls, sculptures, antique books, coins and sports memorabilia – one of his specialties. He does not appraise firearms or chemical items.

Appraisals cost $15 per item, and appointments can be made by calling the museum at 509‑764‑3823. Walk‑ins will be accepted if space remains.

Alongside the appraisals, a flea market will fill the Civic Center’s Avenue corridor with local vendors selling handmade goods, antiques and collectibles. Organizers say the winter timing gives small businesses and artisans a boost during a typically slow season.

Shelton said the event also highlights the work of the Moses Lake Creative District, which supports arts, culture and small businesses in partnership with the Washington State Arts Commission and local organizations. Proceeds from the fair help fund Creative District programs.

“It’s just such a cool event,” Shelton said. “Even if you don’t bring something to be appraised, it’s worth stopping in to watch. You’d be amazed at the things people in this town have tucked away.”
