GCSO names deputies who fired shots in fatal officer-involved incident

MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office on Monday released the names of the deputies who fired their weapons during a fatal officer‑involved shooting near Moses Lake earlier this month. The shooting occurred Feb. 16 in the 4700 block of Road L.9 and resulted in the death of 33‑year‑old Aaron Ammann. The incident remains under investigation by the Central Basin Investigative Team, which is handling the case independently. 

“The Grant County Sheriff's Office feels that communicating with our community is important,” GCSO Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said.  

The sheriff's office released the names of the deputies who discharged their firearms, as Cpl. Luis Jimenez, Deputy Juan Niebla, Deputy Gaven Allison, Deputy David Borden and Deputy Jordan Crouch.  

Jimenez is an approximately 11‑year law enforcement veteran and a field training officer. Niebla, hired by the sheriff’s office in 2021, is also a field training officer. Allison began his career as a corrections deputy in 2021 before transferring to patrol and serving on the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team. Borden, a six‑year veteran, is a sniper for the regional tactical team. Crouch began his law enforcement career in 2024 and joined the Grant County Sheriff’s Office in June 2025. 

Authorities have said deputies and Moses Lake police officers were at the property as part of an ongoing investigation when the shooting occurred. Five sheriff’s deputies fired their weapons. No Moses Lake police officers discharged firearms. 

Under Washington law, officer‑involved shootings resulting in death or serious injury must be investigated independently. The Central Basin Investigative Team is required to provide weekly public updates, even if no new information is available.
