Big street projects coming to Quincy in ’26
According to officials at City Hall, pictured, Quincy will have a full list of major street projects for summer 2026. Residents and those traveling through town may want to keep that in mind as they make plans.

QUINCY — Drivers going around Quincy can expect some delays as road projects ramp up around Lauzier Park, along a section of M Street Northeast and sections of A Street Northeast this summer. City Engineer Ariel Belino said some big projects are planned for those locations.
Belino said the planning is already underway for traffic control along A Street Northeast.
“We’re looking at starting the construction by June, when school is almost out,” Belino said. “We’ll try to get it finished before school (resumes) because we’re closing the intersection at Third Avenue.”
The section of A Street Northeast from Third Avenue to Sixth Avenue Northeast is being rebuilt and widened to accommodate additional truck traffic. That’s part of an ongoing project to improve traffic flow for trucks in the northeast section of town.
Major upgrades are planned for 13th Avenue Southwest and other streets around Lauzier Park. City Administrator Pat Haley said its only connection with the rest of Quincy is the intersection with F Street Southwest (State Route 28). City officials want to change that by extending R Street Southwest and building a new street, T Street Southwest.
Lauzier Park is located on 13th Avenue SW, and since major upgrades are planned for the park, the road needs upgrades as well, Haley said. The road has been upgraded from the roundabout at F Street SW to Monument Elementary School, and the next phase will extend that work to T Street SW.
The road will be widened and a left-turn lane added; sidewalks and streetlights will be added throughout the project area. R Street SW will be extended along the edge of the park to intersect with 13th Avenue SW. The new T Street SW will be built south of the park.
Both streets will have water and sewer mains and stormwater drainage systems installed during construction.
The upgrades planned for Lauzier Park include a lighted softball field, which replaces one in East Park. The East Park field had to be moved to make room for the new Quincy Aquatic Center. Lauzier Park will also be the location of the new QPlex indoor sports arena.
The first phase of the three-phase work on M Street NE is planned for this summer. The Quincy city limits extend to Adams Road in that area, and most of it is zoned for commercial and industrial use. But M Street NE is a road that’s been there a while, and Haley said it’s not built for industrial or commercial traffic.
The first phase is the section running east from Quincy High School; the city annexed a section of property in January that’s planned for residential development, and some of the first-phase improvements will be paid by the developer.
The road will be widened and upgraded, and the developer will be required to pay for some of the improvements, including sidewalks, gutters and streetlights.
