Mattawa man arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault
DESERT AIRE — A Mattawa man was arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicular assault after he allegedly drove his car into a crowd of people outside a house in Desert Aire late Saturday night.
Alain Suarez Pantaleon, 19, was booked on one count of vehicular assault, one count of DUI and one count of hit and run of an unattended vehicle, according to the Grant County Jail roster Sunday morning.
Pantaleon was attending a party at the house on Desert Aire Drive Southwest, according to a release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. A disturbance broke out about 11:15 p.m.
“Pantaleon got into his car, struck a person standing among a group of people assembled in the home’s driveway, and drove away from the scene,” the GCSO press release said. “The person who was struck sustained unspecified injuries and declined medical care.”
Deputies found Pantaleon in his car, parked at the intersection of Desert Aire Drive Southwest and Oasis Place Southwest. He was taken into custody without incident.
