WARDEN — A Wenatchee man was airlifted to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland after his car crossed the centerline and hit a truck about four miles south of Warden early Sunday morning.

James Scaramozzino, 45, was traveling north on SR 17 at about 1 a.m. when he crossed the centerline and hit the truck, driven by Timothy Rodriguez, 46, Pasco, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol. The vehicles hit head-on, the WSP release said.

Rodriguez and an unidentified passenger in Scaramozzino’s vehicle were not injured.

Alcohol or drugs were not factors in the collision, the WSP memo said.

Scaramozzino’s vehicle, a 2016 Ford F150, came to rest blocking both lanes. Rodriguez’s truck, a 1991 Ford LN800, ran into the ditch, the memo said.

The road was closed for about five hours, according to information from the Washington Department of Transportation.

The collision is still under investigation.
