Kriete and Gregg separated by 6 votes in sheriff's race
Incumbent Joey Kriete has come in second for the Grant County sheriff race according to initial vote counts for the primary election. Kriete received 2,812 votes or 36.15 percent of the vote during the initial count. Ballots are still being counted across the county and results will not be certified until Aug. 18.

The initial primary results show candidate Darrick Gregg, leading by six votes in the Grant County sheriff race. Gregg pulled around 2,818 votes, 36.23 percent of the votes, according to initial results. Ballots are still being counted, and the results will not be certified until Aug. 18.

MOSES LAKE — Grant County Sheriff Joey Kriete and challenger Darrik Gregg are separated by just six votes in the initial results of the 2026 primary election, setting up what appears to be a closely watched race heading into November.
