Mattawa ‘summer clean up’ Aug. 14 and 15
MATTAWA — Residents of the Mattawa area can dispose of unwanted household junk during the “Summer Cleanup” sponsored by the city from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14 and 15.
The container will be set up at 710 First Street. It’s available for Mattawa residents as well as people living in Desert Aire, Beverly, Schawna and nearby unincorporated areas.
A fee will be charged depending on the size of the vehicle. They range from $5 for a small trailer load to $40 for a vehicle with a large trailer.
All yard waste must be bagged, according to a media release from the city. Tree branches, shrub trimmings and grass, among other items, will be accepted. Appliances and furniture, including tables and chairs, microwaves and dishwashers, sofas and dishwashers will be accepted. Tire disposal will be available for the actual cost of disposing of tires.
No hazardous materials, commercial or construction waste will be accepted. Residents will be limited to one load per residence and must provide proof of address.
All payments must be made at the time of disposal, in cash or check, the city release said.
