Man arrested near burglary scene with firearm

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Police arrested a suspected burglar who was carrying a loaded firearm Friday night, according to a statement from the MLPD. 

Jeremiah Warner, 47, was arrested on charges of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the MLPD statement. 

At about 10 p.m., MLPD officers were called to assist Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies at a business in the 12000 block of South Frontage Road East for a report of a burglary in progress, according to an MLPD report. While responding to the call, officers found Warner pushing a motorbike along the road next to the business.  

An officer contacted Warner, who denied being involved in the burglary, but was found to be carrying a loaded firearm. Because Warner has had 14 felony convictions in the past, he is not eligible to possess firearms, the MLPD wrote.  

Officers seized the weapon and arrested Warner.  

The firearm was found to be registered to a deceased person, according to the MLPD statement. That part of the case is under investigation. 

Warner was released from Grant County Jail on Monday, according to the jail roster. 

Warner was previously arrested in April 2017 for third-degree driving with a suspended license as well as Spokane County warrants for second-degree identity theft, six counts of possession of controlled substances, first-degree theft and second-degree theft, according to Columbia Basin Herald archives. 

    The handgun that Jeremiah Warner was carrying when he was arrested was registered to a deceased person, according to the Moses Lake Police Department.
