MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Athletics announced Friday that Kyler Haneberg will be the new head coach of the Mavericks football program this fall – pending school board approval, according to a press release.

This announcement comes just a few months after the winningest season (11-1) in program history under former Head Coach Brett Jay.

Haneberg has served as an assistant coach for the last seven years, working as a wide receivers coach and most recently an offensive coordinator, too. Haneberg is a former player for the Mavericks program, then known as the Chiefs.

He now takes over as the head coach where he will look to build off last season’s successes. According to Moses Lake Athletics, Haneberg intends to build young men into leaders of the community through the football program.

Stay tuned for the Tuesday edition of the Columbia Basin Herald for a full story on Haneberg’s hiring.
