UPDATE: The closed lane was reopened about 1 p.m. Sunday.

SOAP LAKE — The northbound lane of State Route 17 one mile north of Soap Lake will be closed to allow workers to remove rocks from the cliff above the road. The work began Friday night, according to a release from the Washington Department of Transportation.

There’s no estimated time or date for reopening, the WSDOT release said.

“Travelers will encounter flaggers and alternating one-lane traffic, as well as slowdowns and delays,” the release said.
