One arrested in theft from Dollar General
WARDEN — Warden Police Department arrested Brian Sanchez-Martinez, a 19-year-old male from Warden on suspicion of stealing two cases of alcoholic beverages from Dollar General Sunday morning, according to a statement from Warden PD.
The theft occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. when Sanchez-Martinez went into the Dollar General store and allegedly grabbed the two cases of alcoholic beverages. When the store clerks were occupied and distracted, Brian left the store with both cases without paying, the WPD statement said.
The Warden officer handling the investigation located Brian at his residence along with three other adults from Moses Lake. There was also a juvenile female from Warden present with them.
Video footage showed all of the subjects in the store together prior to the theft.
All three subjects were trespassed from the Dollar General, and Sanchez-Martinez was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail for theft in the third degree and with two Grant County District Court Warrants.
According to Washington State Legislature, theft in the third degree is when an individual commits theft of property or services which does not exceed $750 in value, includes 10 or more merchandise pallets, ten or more beverage crates, or a combination of ten or more merchandise pallets and beverage crates. Theft in the third degree is also stated to be a gross misdemeanor.
Sanchez-Martinez has since been released from Grant County Jail.
