Party for the Paws
OTHELLO — There’s still time to run away with the circus at Adams County Pet Rescue’s Party for the Paws fundraiser Saturday.
“I think there are about 20-30 tickets available,” said ACPR Manager Anita Plancarte on Tuesday.
The theme is “Under the Big Top” and while there won’t be lion tamers and acrobats, there will be food, a live auction and a silent auction. Dinner will be pulled pork sliders catered by Classic Grilling of Othello. Auction items include a PlayStation, jewelry baskets, dog and cat baskets, homemade salsas, vintage quilts and trip packages, among other things.
Adams County Pet Rescue is a no-kill shelter, which means they keep the animals in their care until they’re adopted. There were 42 dogs and one cat listed on ACPR’s website Wednesday.
The last fundraiser auction, in September 2024, brought in about $20,000, Plancarte said. Some of the money raised may fund upgrades to kennels, she said, but the majority will go to make a dent in the shelter’s veterinary bills.
“(It goes for) spay and neuter, vaccines, microchipping, emergencies, things like that,” Plancarte said.
ACPR’s veterinary bills run about $10,000 per month, she said. The shelter also holds a free Fall Fix Fest in November with discounted spaying and neutering, shots and microchipping for low-income families, using money raised at the Party for the Paws.
Tickets are $30 for an individual and $50 for a couple, and they’re available at ACPR’s website, adamscountypetrescue.com, or at the shelter, 1961 W. Bench Road, Othello. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at 509-488-5514.
“If people want to help out, but they can’t attend, we can (accept) donations over the phone,” Plancarte said.
