Ephrata PD logs for Oct. 2, 2025

Sept. 16 

A Street SE — A vehicle fire was reported. Upon arrival, the rear brake/rotor was smoking. The fire had already been extinguished. Fire department ensured it was out, and a tow was arranged. 

Basin Street SW — A woman reported her fries tasted like bacteria and wanted them sent to a lab. She was given options. 

C Street SW (500 block, Gorgies Gently Used) — A passerby thought someone was stealing items. Police found it was an employee moving items. 

C St SW (1400 block) — A juvenile was reported missing. She hadn’t been seen since the previous day and had skipped school. 

Frey Road — An unoccupied vehicle was parked in the middle of the road. The driver was found tired and unlicensed. He was given a courtesy ride. 

Near Summitview — A man was found slumped on the sidewalk. He was disoriented and had vision issues. He declined medical help but accepted a ride. 

Nat Washington Way — A traffic collision occurred when one vehicle tried to squeeze past another being unloaded. Both vehicles were damaged, but no injuries were reported. 

Sixth SE — A disturbance was reported involving a person playing loud music and dancing next to a car. The subject was gone upon arrival’ 

Sept. 17 

E Street SE — A resident reported not seeing a neighbor’s vehicles move or their dogs let out for about four days. Police knocked but got no answer. It was later confirmed the resident was out of state, and someone was checking on the dogs periodically. 

Unknown location — A person came to the police department reporting they felt targeted due to ongoing mental health issues. Police contacted the Grant County Mental Health agency regarding the situation. 

Sept. 18 

Basin Street SW / Third SW — A vehicle was seen turning quickly and was later stopped. The registration expired, the driver was found to be driving with a suspended license and third-degree driving with license suspended. The driver was cited and released with instructions not to drive. 

Greenacres Road, Riverside — A welfare check was requested for a subject. The reporting party had recently been in contact with the subject and planned to come to town to help get her into a treatment facility. 

Unknown location (Domestic Violence) — A neighbor reported hearing a verbal domestic dispute and glass breaking. The involved subjects admitted to arguing but denied breaking anything. Officers couldn’t confirm any assault or malicious mischief. 

Unknown location (Assault during transport) — A juvenile being transported to Tri-Cities by DCYS became assaultive toward staff. The juvenile, who has mental and behavioral challenges, was eventually calmed down and agreed to continue the trip peacefully. 

Sept. 19 

Alder Street NW — A stolen 4-wheeler was spotted on the railroad tracks and later recovered. The owner was notified and the vehicle was towed. 

Basin Street SW — A vehicle was reported as blocking traffic but was found legally parked in a space off the road. 

Basin Street SW — Graffiti was reported on a building.  

Nat Washington Way — A person was reported huffing cans in a local business’s parking lot. Officers made contact; the individual admitted to using but declined assistance. 

Neva Lake Road & Railroad Ave NW / Dodson Rd NW — A silver Nissan was reported driving erratically. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. 

Second Avenue SW — Officers assisted medics and fire personnel with a patient transfer. The patient was diverted to Quincy Valley Medical Center. 

Sept. 20 

First Avenue SW — A burglary occurred at a business. Items were taken from a fridge, two hammers were stolen, and a cash box was missing. Footprints were found on scene. 

Online (No physical location) — A resident reported receiving scam calls about winning a million dollars. No fraud occurred, but the report was made for awareness. 

Residential Area (Unspecified) — Juveniles were reported ding-dong ditching. When confronted, they insulted the reporting party. Officers were unable to locate them. 

Residential Area (Unspecified) — A loud party was reported. Officers found people playing cards but no noise violation. 

Basin Street SW — A fight was reported involving a Spanish-speaking caller who mentioned a firearm. No one wanted to press charges. 

Sept. 21 

SR 17 and SR 282 — Officers assisted WSP with a collision involving a driver with a head wound. The driver was cleared medically, and WSP took over the scene.  

Sept. 22 

A Street SE — A vehicle was stolen but recovered in rural Moses Lake using a tracker. 

C Street NW — A mother requested a welfare check on her daughter, who was at a suspected drug house and refusing contact. Officers attempted to locate and check on her. 

Columbia Basin Hospital — A subject was paranoid and confrontational with staff, pushing a doctor. No charges were filed. The subject was given a ride home. 

G Street NE — A vehicle with expired registration was reported parked. It was tagged for five-day removal. 

K Street NE — Welfare check requested for a neighbor not seen in several days. Subject was contacted and found to be fine. 

Trailer Park (Unspecified location) — A speeding vehicle was reported violating park rules. The vehicle belonged to guests and could not be banned. 

Nat Washington Way — An irate customer was upset about tire pressure service and demanded staff retraining. Subject may be trespassed from all Walmarts on next contact. 

Unspecified roadway — A person was seen sweeping what appeared to be red paint or blood. It was confirmed to be paint. 

Unspecified business — A suspicious person was seen looking into a vehicle and trying to enter a closed business. Officers checked the area. 

Police Station — A juvenile was reported to have been assaulted by a school bus driver. After investigation, it was determined to be accidental and no crime occurred. 

Sept. 23 

E Street SE — A resident woke up to find their back window broken. The cause was undetermined; scene was photographed. 

Fifth Avenue NW — A request was made for extra patrols around the high school due to speeding and erratic drivers. 

Basin Street SW & SR 282 — A two-vehicle blocking collision occurred. WSP was on scene and handled the incident. 

Nob Hill Drive — A driver hit a curb near the courthouse and called to ask if it needed to be reported. No damage occurred, and no report was necessary. 

Across from Oasis (city property) — A person was seen walking around city-owned property. They were contacted and asked to move along without issue. 

Unspecified Business — A subject committed return fraud earlier in the day and returned to attempt theft. Items were recovered, but the suspect was not located. 

Unspecified location — A 911 hang-up was traced to a subject who was testing the emergency call box. No emergency occurred. 

Unspecified location — Two juveniles were involved in a fight. The case is under investigation. 

Unspecified location — A subject was detained due to resembling a wanted person. Identity was verified, and the person was released with an apology. 

Unspecified location — A suspicious bag was left near a back door. It contained garbage and a $1 bill. The garbage was disposed of, and the bill was secured. 

Sept. 24 

Behind the library — A vehicle was reported parked since September 22. It was legally parked, and no violations were found. 

Maringo Road — A neighbor’s door was reported open since early morning. The homeowner confirmed it was handled and the dogs were back inside. 

Basin Street SW — A subject was reported committing return fraud at multiple business locations across Idaho and Washington. The subject retrieves items and returns them for refunds without purchasing them. 

Nat Washington Way — A goat was reported tied up in the bed of a vehicle. Upon arrival, both the goat and vehicle were gone. 

Cyrus Rd & Able Road — A disturbance was reported where a driver allegedly tried to hit the reporting party. The driver claimed she couldn’t see the person and tried to avoid them. No crime was determined. 

Columbia Cir / Ephrata High School — A subject was reported on school property in violation of a court order. The subject denied being there, and the order was confirmed valid. 

Unspecified residence — A man entered a home using a key and harassed the tenant, telling her she had a week to leave. Officers explained legal procedures and landlord/tenant laws. 

Unspecified location — A vehicle theft was reported, with the vehicle later recovered. The suspect was booked.
