MOSES LAKE – The City of Moses Lake Museum and Art Center is hosting free family Saturday, Oct. 4, featuring a presentation from April Jackson or as she’s better known, April the Reptile Lady.

“I want to do everything I can to just reach all the kids in Washington state to let them experience how incredible reptiles are and just have those new passions and excitements,” said Jackson.

She travels around Washington state sharing her love of reptiles with everyone that she can., going to schools, libraries, parties, assisted living homes and various events around the state. Her shows feature multiple different reptilian species such as snakes, lizards, tortoises and alligators.

Being able to reach out to the youth and help them become the best version of themselves through her reptile presentations is something that has been incredible to experience, she said.

Jackson follows in the footsteps of her father Scott Peterson, the Reptile Man. Peterson is a well-known zoologist, educator, and author who has travelled around the state for over 35 years hosting live animal demonstrations all over the Pacific Northwest.

“I have been raised with reptiles my whole life,” said Jackson. “I grew up doing reptile shows with my dad and now 20 years later I’m doing that same thing with my kids.”

Free tickets to the presentations are available at the museum starting today. April the Reptile Lady’s presentation will run from noon to 2 p.m.

A child pets one of April Jackson’s tortoises, Spongebob Scalepants. Jackson said it is important to educate and share her love of reptiles with not only the youth, but everyone that she can.
