He was born Jan. 12, 1948, in Ephrata, Wash., to Clifford and Evelyn Salkield Jones of Mae Valley. He went to school in Moses Lake until he joined the Army in 1966. He served in Vietnam, then returned to Germany, where he met and married Suse Knoedler in 1972. He was transferred to the U.S. in about 1975 and retired from the Army in 1981. He moved back to Moses Lake. He retired from Basic American Potato around 2013 due to advancing Parkinson’s.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his stepdaughter, Tanja, and his siblings, Shirley, Ron and Glen.

He is survived by siblings Leland (Barla) Jones, Phyllis (Ken) Hoffpauir, Kayleen (Del) Wissel and Elaine Jones; stepson Sascha Alexander; grandchildren Tiffany (James) Allen, Gerrett and Savannah Alexander.

Thanks for the excellent care given to Merlin for the last three-plus years at Othello Care and, more recently, Hospice.
