Gene (Clinton) Smith

Gene Smith, 73, passed away peacefully Sept. 23, 2025, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash.

Gene was born June 11, 1952, to Clinton and Geneva Smith in Seattle, Wash. They moved to Moses Lake in 1957, where he went to school and raised a family. Gene graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1971 and married Naomi Johnson that same year. They had been married for 54 years at the time of his death. 

Gene worked for Americold, then moved on to Columbia Colstor where he retired. He quickly became bored and went to work at Genie until he had to quit working. 

Gene loved his family and always worked hard to provide for them. He loved spending time with family and friends, listening to music, reading and camping. 

Gene is survived by his wife, Naomi Smith, brother Zac Smith (Pam), son Brian Smith (Jen), daughter Heather Miller (Jamey) and 12 grandchildren.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents. 

His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 18, 2025, at Moses Lake Alliance Church, 1100 N. Grape Drive, Moses Lake.
