GEORGE – At around 11 a.m. Grant County Fire District 3 was dispatched to a 4,000 gallon above ground diesel storage fire at Williamson Precision, according to Grant County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman.

The fire, located in the 3500 block of Adams Road S.W., was out by around 2:15 p.m., Foreman said.

“Grant County Fire District 5 brought out the foam to assist with controlling the fire,” Foreman said. “Firefighters applied the foam to the fire for about 20 minutes, and the fire was eventually smothered by the layer of foam.”

Aside from one home on the farm site, there were no other nearby homes that were at risk, Foreman said. There were no major injuries.

“There was one person, who was treated on scene for something minor but did not go to the hospital,” Foreman said.

Foreman said the cooperation between agencies helped the fire be put out in quick manner.

“Teamwork and established partnerships helped put this fire out,” Foreman said.

The cooperating agencies were GCFD 3, Multi-Agency Communcations Center-911, GCFD 5, Royal Slope Fire Rescue EMS, Columbia EMS and GCSO.
