Cars, Cops, Coffee and First Responders event cruising in
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Classic Car club will be hosting the annual Cars, Cops, Coffee and First Responders Thank You Salute Show ‘n Shine on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 944 W. Third Ave. at the old Ace Hardware lot in Moses Lake.
“It’s a way for the officers to get out to the community and usually car shows bring a pretty good crowd,” said Moses Lake PD Public Information Officer Jeff Sursely. “It’s mainly just a way for people that are interested in car culture to also interact with the police.”
The annual car show features a variety of different vehicles. The event is free to the public where they can come meet local officers and other first responders while admiring the classic cars, motorcycles, trucks, hot rods and first responder vehicles.
Food trucks will also be present at the event where people can grab lunch along with coffee and donuts.
There is a $10 entry fee for those showing off their cars and all proceeds from the event will go to the Blue Bridge & Fireman’s Benevolence Fund.
The annual car show started a few years ago when the Moses Lake Classic Car Club approached the police department asking what they can do to help support local first responders. Sursely said that’s when they came up with the idea for this event which has grown significantly over the years.
“Anytime you have a car show, it brings a crowd. People like their cars,” he said. We aren’t always able to get to every function that is hosted in the city so a planned function like this ensures that we’re there.”
