One killed in Sunday collision on SR 283
UPDATE: QUINCY — An investigation by the Washington State Patrol is underway following a head-on collision early Sunday afternoon that killed driver of one of the vehicles.
Jessica White, 48, Las Vegas, Nevada, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, about one mile northeast of the intersection of State Route 283 and the State Route 281 spur about 10 miles south of Quincy. The collision occurred about 1:30 p.m., according to a WSP press memo.
White was driving north on SR 283 when her car was hit by a pickup driven by Michael Jensen, 71, Grapeview. Jensen was driving south, crossed the centerline and hit White head-on, the WSP memo said.
Two passengers in White’s vehicle, Scott White, 46, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Elijah White, 21, Pasco, were injured and transported to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Jenson was injured and transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center.
The collision blocked the roadway for about six hours.
UPDATE: As of 5:30 p.m., SR 283 was expected to be closed for an additional hour to 90 minutes. The collision, reported at about 1:35 p.m., left at least one person dead.
