UPDATE: One man was airlifted from the scene of a two-car collision about five miles east of Royal City Friday night. The unidentified driver sustained serious injuries and was flown to a local hospital.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Dodson Road South and Road 13 Southwest.

“Preliminary indications are that the driver of the truck ran the stop sign,” said Kyle Forman, public information officer for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Foreman wrote in a media release that the man was injured when the car he was driving was hit by a pickup pulling a flatbed trailer near the intersection of Dodson Road South and Road 13 Southwest.

The driver of the truck said he was not injured, Foreman said. Each man was the only occupant of his vehicle, he said.

The pickup was pulling a gooseneck flatbed trailer transporting bins of grapes, which spilled onto Road 13 SW. As of 7:40 p.m. Dodson Road was reopened.
