Ritzville man convicted of assault
RITZVILLE — Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 6 in the case of a Ritzville man convicted of second-degree assault earlier this week.
Brian Sumner was convicted Sept. 17 in Adams County Superior Court on second-degree assault with a deadly weapons enhancement, unlawful display of a weapon with a finding of domestic violence and unlawful display of a weapon, according to a release from the Ritzville Police Department.
Sumner was convicted in connection with an incident in October 2024, when officers responded to a report of a possible domestic disturbance, the release said.
“During the incident, Sumner brandished a knife and threatened both law enforcement and community members while attempting to reach the victim,” the release said.
The incident ended without injuries, the release said.
