GCSO announces new emergency notification number

MOSES LAKE – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has announced a change in the phone number used for its emergency alert system, Everbridge. Residents will now receive calls from 509-260-3440, a Cle Elum phone number.  

Everbridge sends phone calls out to residents to notify them of any ongoing emergencies with an automated message. For those who don’t answer, a voicemail is not left, but instead residents are encouraged to call the number back and listen to the automated message.  

"Everbridge is a critical tool for informing residents about emergencies, whether it be a boil water order or wildland fire evacuation,” GCSO Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said. “We want our community to be prepared and informed.”  

In addition to the new number, GCSO encourages residents to register for Everbridge alerts or opt for Nixle, a text-based messaging service.  

"Both systems allow for targeted notifications, which means we can reach specific communities when a situation arises," Foreman said.  

He noted that alerts are delivered in English and Spanish, enhancing accessibility for all residents. 

Residents can register for alerts via the GCSO website or choose to receive simplified text alerts by texting GCSHERIFF to 888777.  

“It’s vital for everyone to stay connected and informed during emergencies,” Foreman said. “It’s one of the ways people can stay informed about major emergencies in the county and that will allow them to take measures to protect themselves.”
