Darrell Lee Liechty

| September 8, 2025 12:35 PM

Darrell Lee Liechty, 91, of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away peacefully Aug. 5, 2025, in Moses Lake.

Darrell was born May 27, 1934, in Clay City, Ind., to Manford Odell Liechty and Martha Mary (Haviland) Liechty.

He married the love of his life, Anne Kay Lewellyn, on April 20, 1957, in Lafayette, Ind., and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.

Darrell enjoyed a long and successful career as a pharmaceutical salesman with Lederle Laboratories/American Cyanamid, where he worked diligently until his retirement in the early 1990s.

Embracing his love for the outdoors — fishing, camping, skiing and snowmobiling at the family cabin — was how he spent his whole life, and these were among his greatest joys. That, and a consummate love of cookies! In later years, he took great pride in becoming a master tomato grower, tending to his garden with dedication and care, and generously sharing those beloved tomatoes with all who loved them.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Anne Kay; their children, Janice Liechty, Mark Liechty (Roberta “Robbie” Shaw) and Mary Jo (Liechty) Smallman; grandchildren Amber Liechty (Justin Randall), Stephanie Smallman (Moisés Lorenzo), Tammy Smallman and Olivia Smallman; great-grandson Kalen Randall; and niece Sandra (Broglin) Serna.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manford and Martha Liechty, and his sister, Beverly (Broglin) Liechty.

Darrell will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, wonderful laugh and his deep love for family. His legacy will live on in the memories and lives of those who loved him.
