Arlington man arrested for vehicle theft in Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE – Colin James Golden, 37, of Arlington, was lodged into Grant County Jail on Sunday for the investigation of a driving under the influence, attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement and possession of a stolen vehicle, according to GCSO.
One of the deputies on patrol was notified via camera systems that a stolen van was in the area, according to GCSO Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman. The deputy found the van located at Motel Six in Moses Lake. As the deputy approached the van, the driver took off. Golden drove down West Broadway, onto Interstate 90 and then attempted to take exit 174 but failed to negotiate the curve in the off-ramp.
“The van ended up spinning around, striking a guardrail and becoming high-centered,” Foreman said. “Then, he briefly refused to give up and surrender.”
However, deputies and Moses Lake Police officers negotiated with him and were able to convince him to surrender peacefully. He was then taken into custody. The driver was not seriously hurt and all deputies and MLPD officers are okay.
The vehicle was returned to its owner in Benton County, Foreman said.
