Grant Co. Democrats award prizes in candy count game
MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Democrats have tabulated the results of their Count the Candy game at the Grant County Fair this year, according to an announcement from Vice Chair Jill Springer Forrest.
The game is a longstanding tradition at the organization’s building at the fair. The idea is simple: there’s a big jar filled with candies and entrants guess how many pieces the jar holds. The winner gets not only the jar of candy but also water guns and other prizes. The second, third, and fourth-closest guessers also win prizes. This year’s jar held 763 candies, the largest haul yet, Springer Forrest wrote in the announcement.
First place went to Angel Gilbert, who won the sugar trove, a motorized water gun and a bubble wand. The water gun holds almost half a gallon of water, fills in about a second and has a range of as much as 26 feet, according to the manufacturer’s description.
Kinsley Byers took second place and won a 24-ounce-capacity water gun and a bubble wand. Third-place winner Sawyer Long won two smaller water weapons and bubble toys, and Daniel Kunayev, in fourth place, took home a foam rubber dart gun and bubble toys.
“That wraps up another successful year at the GC Fair with over 1000 entries,” Springer Forrest wrote in the announcement.
