Memorial bench to honor local community members
The Moses Lake Aquatics Center is where a park bench and plaque will be placed to honor the memory of Don and Mary Cunnington. Rich Victor has organized an event for September 5, where they will celebrate the Cunnington’s and share stories.

MOSES LAKE – On Friday, a park bench will be unveiled to honor the memory and legacy of Don and Mary Cunnington. Event organizer Rich Victor is excited to celebrate two members of the Moses Lake community who had an impact on him, he said.
“You wake up in the morning, you had a good dream, a good memory of childhood past. That's kind of what it was, with thinking of all the things that she had done for us as kids in the '70s, '80s and the '90s, then I started thinking no one's really done something to acknowledge that,” he said.
After organizing a fundraiser, the plaque was purchased. Victor and the Cunnington family will gather to celebrate the placement of this park bench and plaque. They will place it outside of the Moses Lake Aquatics Center, a space that Victor said Mary played a key role in having built. According to him, it was her pride and joy.
The event will be at 5 p.m. Friday, where they plan to share stories of the Cunningtons, Victor said.
