OTHELLO — The Othello Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect believed to be involved in a string of package thefts across several neighborhoods in the city.

According to authorities, the thefts have occurred primarily during daytime hours when many residents are away at work or school. Surveillance footage and witness reports suggest the individual has been targeting homes shortly after packages are delivered, often removing them from doorsteps within minutes.

The department has released a photo of the suspect and their vehicle, captured from a residential security camera. Investigators believe this person may be responsible for multiple incidents and are urging anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about their whereabouts to contact the Othello Police Department at 509-488-3314.

In response to the uptick in thefts, the department also shared several tips to help residents protect their deliveries:

• Use a Smart Lockbox or Package Delivery Box: Installing a secure, weatherproof lockbox on your porch can keep packages out of sight and inaccessible to thieves.

• Install a Video Doorbell or Security Camera: Devices like Ring, Nest, or Arlo can record activity and send real-time alerts. Visible cameras often deter theft and provide valuable evidence.

• Use Pickup Locations or In-Store Pickup: Services like Amazon Lockers, UPS Access Points, or in-store pickup options ensure packages are not left unattended.

The Othello Police Department encourages residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
