SOAP LAKE – An off-duty member of Grant County Sheriff’s Office was arrested for a domestic violence incident, according to a statement from GCSO. The officer’s identity was not initially released, but was later reported by GCSO as Corrections Deputy Nickolas Eifert.

The incident occurred in Soap Lake, according to Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman, which means the Soap Lake Police Department will be investigating the matter.

“This is one of those days where I can't say much,” Foreman said. “We respect the investigative process by not commenting on another agency's investigation.”

SLPD Chief Patrick Canady was unavailable to comment on the case Thursday. The Columbia Basin Herald will contact him regarding the case Friday.

The employee has been placed on administrative leave while the police investigation is taking place. Once the investigation is complete, GCSO will have Clear Risk Solutions conduct an internal investigation into whether agency policy was violated.

The GCSO plans to share the results of the internal investigation, according to Foreman.

If you or someone you know is facing domestic violence, help is available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or by texting BEGIN to 88788.
