MOSES LAKE — There was a shooting in the 4800 block of Stratford Road on Tuesday night in unincorporated Moses Lake. One person was injured and taken to the hospital, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

“Through the course of investigation, detectives found that Martinez was the one responsible for the shooting,” GCSO Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said.

Investigators say that at around 10 p.m., a 23-year-old man was inside a parked car when he was shot by Darwin Tejada Martinez, 28, of Seattle. Witness statements state the two subjects were in the same car, Foreman said.

Tejada Martinez was arrested and booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault. He was still listed on the Grant County Jail roster Wednesday morning with no bail listed.

The investigation is ongoing, according to Foreman.

“There is no ongoing threat to the public that the suspect in this situation is in custody,” Foreman said.
