WSP urges caution after 3 injured on Hwy. 2
Troopers with the Washington State Patrol have been busy helping drivers who have run afoul of winter weather. First responders are asking people to slow down and exercise caution as they get back into the swing of winter driving.

MOSES LAKE — The Washington State Patrol is urging caution after an accident sent three individuals involved in a Berne-area collision to Cascade Medical Center Tuesday evening.
The accident was determined to have been caused by one driver going too fast for the conditions, according to the release. Throughout Tuesday afternoon, Eastern Washington had rain and snowfall occurring, with an inch or more of snow in some areas.
“This is our first major snowstorm of the year, and it usually takes one or two of them to have people experience driving in the snow and the icy conditions to realize that we have to drive different and we need to pay more attention,” said WSP Public Information Officer Jeremy Weber.
Multiple minor accidents in Grant and Adams counties have been reported on scanner traffic, including one rollover along State Route 17 between Moses Lake and Quincy and a pedestrian being struck by a car in Moses Lake.
Weber said that, in Douglas County alone, there were around 15 accidents due to road conditions with multiple vehicles involved.
As the Pacific Northwest heads into the winter season, Weber said it is important for people to mind the conditions of the roadway.
“We decrease our speed and drive for the conditions of the roadway, not just because you think it looks good,” he said. “Slow down 10 miles below the speed limit and get to where you’re going safely. Don’t follow too closely and give yourself plenty of room if you need to make any kind of evasive maneuvers.”
