Warden resident arrested Sunday for alleged assault, rape
WARDEN — On Sunday morning, the Warden Police Department was notified of a female being treated for injuries at the hospital in Othello. The female reported that the injuries occurred when she was assaulted physically and sexually by a prior domestic partner at their residence in Warden.
According to WPD, officers were able to develop probable cause to arrest 21-year-old Israel Trejo Basurto, of Warden.
Warden officers, assisted by Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies, responded to Trejo Basurto’s residence in the 800 block of Third Street West. He was taken into custody without incident.
A search warrant was served on the residence and evidence was recovered regarding the assault, as well as additional evidence of controlled substance possession.
As of Tuesday, at 4 p.m., according to the Grant County Jail roster, Trejo Basurto is still lodged in the jail for the following charges: interfering with reporting domestic violence, fourth-degree assault – domestic violence, first-degree rape and unlawful imprisonment.
