MOSES LAKE – One person was taken to Samaritan Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound in an incident in the 7900 block of Dick Road in Cascade Valley Sunday evening. The suspect is not in custody as of 12 p.m. Monday, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman. However, detectives are still investigating.

“My understanding is that the person was shot in the shoulder and that the wound is non-life threatening,” Foreman said.

The person who was shot was an adult male and he was taken to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake.

“The two parties knew each other,” Foreman said. “It was not a random incident.”

The cooperating agencies included the multi–Agency Communication Center, Moses Lake Police Department, Grant County Fire District 5, Lifeline Ambulance and GCSO.

“We are not looking for community assistance at this point to identify the subject,” Foreman said. “If we reach a point where we need to engage with the public, we will do that. But right now, the investigation is underway, and we are hopeful to have someone in custody soon for this crime.”

The Columbia Basin Herald will update this story as more information is made available.
