Three injured in Interstate 90 hit and run
RITZVILLE — Three people were injured when an unidentified driver hit the back of their car and sent it rolling multiple times on Interstate 90 about 12 miles northeast of Ritzville on Nov. 13. The driver of the second car fled on foot.
Jeremy Zwiefel, 51, and Heather Tschaeofske, 49, both of Olympia, were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo. The unidentified driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran into the back of Zwiefel’s vehicle, according to the memo.
Both cars spun and the second car hit Zwiefel’s vehicle again, causing it to roll. The second car didn’t roll and came to rest about 50 feet off the shoulder of the westbound lanes, the memo said.
The second car, a 2003 Toyota sedan, was abandoned at the scene. If the driver is identified, charges of felony hit and run are likely, according to the memo.
