MOSES LAKE — The City of Moses Lake will collect food and other necessities for the Moses Lake Food bank this month, according to Moses Lake Museum & Art Center Director Dollie Boyd.

The drive will collect not just canned food but also diapers and other things not covered by SNAP, Boyd said.

“Food is essential, but diapers – you can’t even put your kid in day care if you don’t have enough diapers for them,” Boyd said. “So we felt like diapers, formula and feminine hygiene products were pretty essential as well. It’s something that often goes by the wayside if you’re having to concentrate on feeding your family.”

The goods can be dropped off at three locations around town: the museum, Moses Lake Fire Department Station 1 and the Larson Recreation Center, anytime between now and Nov. 22. They’ll be delivered to the Moses Lake Food Bank, Boyd said.

“We’re encouraging people to rifle through their pantries or stick a couple of extra items in their shopping cart next time they’re at the store,” Boyd said. “And next time they’re here, just bring it by.”
