GALLERY: Highlights from Basin sports

MOSES LAKE — The last week of Basin sports saw a lot of stiff competition as district tournament games continue. Here are a few highlights from those games.  

    The Mavericks’ Mikayla Sawyer battles for possession of the ball with a West Valley player during their first postseason game on Tuesday. The Mavericks went on the road to play Eisenhower Thursday evening to continue their postseason run. Results of this game were unavailable at the time of publication.
 
 
    Moses Lake’s Lilliana Roylance tips the ball back over the net during Tuesday’s district matchup against Eisenhower. Though the Mavericks’ season ended Tuesday evening, Head Coach Krystal Trammell said she was incredibly proud of the energy and effort her team put into the season.
 
 
    Huskies senior Whitlee Hollenbeck sends the ball back over the net during the first round of the district tournament last Wednesday against Toppenish. The Huskies season ended the following Saturday against East Valley, but Head Coach Steve Parris said the team made great strides in improvement this season and is confident in the future of the program’s growth.
 
 
    The Knights’ Hali Christensen (21) passes the ball to a teammate against Naches Valley in the 1A district semifinal game. The Knights lost a competitive and windy battle to the Rangers.
 
 
    The Lions’ Johnny Ferguson (5) jukes two Eagles defenders during their game. The Lions defeated the Eagles 53-8 on Friday.
 
 
    The Wahluke Warriors’ Alexandra Rodriguez (14) boots the ball away as the Knights’ Taylor Webb (9) closes in. The Warriors defeated the Knights 1-0 on Tuesday to advance in the consolation bracket of the 1A district tournament.
 
 
    Johnny Ferguson (5) escapes the pocket as the Eagles defense crashes in. The Lions put up 26 points in the first quarter against the Eagles.
