MOSES LAKE — No one was injured when a school bus failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle about five miles south of Moses Lake on Tuesday evening.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, the bus, driven by Ashley Moreno, 30, Warden, was stopped at the intersection of State Route 17 and Road 3 Southeast about 4:30 p.m. Moreno attempted to cross the intersection and hit a pickup driven by Juan Mendoza, 21, of Kennewick.

Mendoza’s truck came to a stop in the southeast corner of the intersection, but didn’t go into the ditch. The bus ended up on the eastbound shoulder of SR 17.

Moreno had three passengers on the bus, 9, 12 and 14 years of age, but no one was injured. Moreno was cited for failing to yield.
