The reports below were provided by the sheriff's office or police department indicated. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  

Ephrata PD 

May 15 

Report of suspicious behavior. Reporting party said suspect sent letter in mail from suspect who was arrested for threatening to assault employees at gas station. Reporting party said this is the second letter. Upon reading letter, no crime but information documented. 

Report of domestic. Suspect was arrested for fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief – domestic violence. 

May 16 

Report of male suspect in front of business on Basin Street playing with fire. When Ephrata PD arrived, male suspect was burning cardboard to keep warm. Suspect put out fire and was allowed to stay inside gas station until bus arrived.  

Report of agency assist with Grant County Sheriff’s Office. EPD helped with suspicious vehicle and DUI collision. Collision occurred and suspect was being uncooperative with investigation. Suspect was detained and placed in backseat of patrol vehicle, kicking at officers. Suspect taken into custody by GCSO. 

Report of fight at Ephrata High School. Two juveniles involved. Report to be filed with prosecutor for fourth-degree assault.  

Report of theft in the 800 block of First Avenue Northeast. Reporting party said someone stole their generator of their boat. Reporting party had security footage but could not identify suspect. 

Report of damage in 1300 block of C Street Southeast. Reporting party said tired on vehicle were slashed. Police took photos of damage. 

Report of DUI on Fifth Avenue and Basin Street Southwest.  

Report of theft at business on Nat Washington way. Male suspect fled on foot. Police located and detained male suspect matching description. Male suspect admitted to theft.   

May 19 

Report of fraud. Unauthorized debit card transaction on reporting party’s account. 

May 20 

Report of can of orange paint on First Avenue Southeast. Police located a smiley face on a manhole cover. EPD checked area and subject was gone on arrival. 

Report of subject being arrested for third-degree malicious mischief – domestic violence.  

May 21 

Report of theft in 200 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest. Reporting party said he recently inherited his dad’s shop. On Monday, front glass pane was broken and appeared to be used to unlock the door. Multiple tools and items taken from shop. 

Report of collision on Basin Street Northwest and Fifth Avenue Northwest. Vehicle one was pulling out of parking lot and hit legally parked vehicle two.

May 15 

Report of residential burglary.  

Report of cow on property that does not belong to reporting party.  

Report of reporting party being locked out of residence with 11 month old child inside. Landlord will be there soon. Reporting party said baby is fine inside. 

Report of victim being pepper sprayed. Suspects left scene.  

Report of ten shots fired in field behind Japanese Gardens in Moses Lake. Reporting party did not see anyone.  

Report of juveniles driving motorcycles illegally near East Nelson Road.  

Report of someone breaking into U-Haul location and breaking ignition on vehicle. 

May 16 

Report of stolen pitbull puppy, around six months old and valued at $500.  

Report of theft of two red gas cans full of premium gas valued at around $80. Police obtained video evidence. 

May 17 

Report of house broken into. There is bird poop everywhere.  

Report of vehicle prowl in Moses Lake. Caller said the air compressor, jump starter and tools were left behind.  

Report of possible DUI driver on State Route 17.  

May 18 

Report of deputy contacting vehicle with no plates. The driver was found to be DUI.  

Report of package stolen, valued at $400. 

May 19 

Report of someone taking gravel at county gravel pit. 

Report of a restraining order violation in Moses Lake. 

Report of husband out flying and in the middle of the canal he sees a white car in it. 

Report of convicted felon eluding police and in possession of a firearm.  

Report of male trying to stab another male. 

Report of female inside deceased uncle's house, stealing things.  

May 20 

Report of found horse. 

Report of jeep stealing gas. 

Report of a female peacock causing a disturbance in Moses Lake.  

Report of tires being dumped without permission on reporting party’s residence. 

Report of two shots fired. 

Report of burglary in progress. 

Report of subjects stealing products earlier and then coming back and stealing a generator. 

Report of male walking by railroad with a rifle.  

Report of a traffic stop being changed to DUI. 

May 21 

Report of subject kicking reporting party’s door open. Suspect left. Reporting party said she kicked door open because reporting party owes her money. Reporting party said she was threatened. 

Report of nine shots fired, nothing seen though. Reporting party was near the Japanese Gardens.  

Report of dogs harassing the reporting party’s horses. 

Report of subjects spray painting. 

Warden PD 

May 16 

Report of student bringing fake weapon to school.  

Report of a runaway juvenile. 

Report of vehicle windows shot out, happened sometime during the day, unknown when. 

May 19 

Report of assault between students. 

Report of property damage to fence that occurred today. 

    The Ephrata Police Department participated in the Touch a Truck event organized by the Ephrata Fire Department. The event raised food and funds for the Ephrata Food Bank.
