COLUMBIA BASIN – The Central Athletic Conference has announced their All-Conference teams for fastpitch softball. Basin softball saw two teams represented across the first and second teams.

For the Huskies, three players made the All-Conference team plus an additional honorable mention. Emi Pruneda secured her spot on the first team for her efforts on the field. On the second team, Lovie Franco and Alexa Prochet were listed. Kaelee Valdez was listed as an honorable mention.

“They did an awesome job of being able to not only focus on being good and doing good themselves, but they did a very good job of being able to help out the younger girls too,” Huskie head coach Dominique Martinez said.

Martinez praised the first teamer, Emi Pruneda, for her desire to step into a leadership role and contribute to the team.

“She was wanting to be the example and show everybody what it means to put in time and show what happens when you work hard,” she said.

Franco and Prochet were attributed for their efforts in pitching for the Huskies by Martinez. Franco put a lot of extra time after practice to work on her game and bring more to the table for the team. Prochet, only a sophomore, has grown into the pitcher position as the season went on.

“(Prochet) was able to work her way out of situations and do her best, and I was really proud to see that the other coaches were able to see that too,” Martinez said.

The Ephrata Tigers had five players listed across the first and second teams, plus an honorable mention.

On the first team, Alexia Durfee and Kaydence Hector were listed for their contributions to the Tigers softball team this season. On the second team, Olivia Bicondova, Jaemyson Durfee, and Jaeda Gonzalez were announced. Kaylynn Spencer was listed as the Tigers honorable mention.

The Tigers have been building momentum throughout the district tournament as they prepare to begin state tournament competition this Friday. Head coach Heather Wood said it will be important to take it one game at a time.

The Quincy Jackrabbits were represented with the team sportsmanship award. According to the CWAC’s press release, all-conference teams were nominated and voted on by head coaches from the nine conference schools.
