COLUMBIA BASIN — Memorial Day weekend is a busy one, with the three-day weekend and – hopefully – beautiful weather. Here are some things going on in the Basin this week:
May 23
Tee Off for Tails
Swing into action for the animals. Meet some adorable adoptables and grab some grub at the barbecue. Donate dog food, kitten formula, laundry soap, or bleach directly to Grant County Animal Outreach and get a free round of mini golf. Noon to 9 p.m. at Lake Bowl, 1165 N. Stratford Road, Moses Lake. Circus Genoa
Suspense will rise and jaws will drop as you witness transformers, watch in awe of amazing acrobats and a lightning-fast juggler, laugh along with a hilarious performing clown, and enjoy the magic and wonder of the circus. 7-8:30 p.m. at Ritzville Lions Club and Legion Hall, 106 W. Desert Moondogs

Highlighters Art Club Western Art Show
Categories include painting, drawing, photography and mixed media. Entries must be the artist’s original work, ready to be displayed and not exceeding 42x62 inches. Open for public viewing and voting for people’s choice Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., viewing only Sunday 10 a.m. to noon at Couleegan’s Bar & Grill, 504 W. Main St., Coulee City. Spring Fest

Last Stand Rodeo
Big PRCA rodeo fun in a small venue. The Coulee City Last Stand Rodeo has more than 70 years of history in Grant County’s oldest town. Announcer is Will Rasmussen, clown and barrelman is Kevin Higley. Rodeo all three days; Cowboy Breakfast 7 a.m., Cowpie Jog 8 a.m., Main Street Parade 9 a.m. Saturday. Ephrata FFA Plant Sale

Memorial Day Weekend Off-Road Bash
$2500 in payouts plus buy-ins for pro drags. Full-size or UTV-type rigs only, five seconds or faster in the 300-foot requirement. Pro drag entry limit 16. $50 buy-in. Payouts 1-3.
