Tigers softball splits doubleheader
EPHRATA – The Tigers softball team (15-6) was only able to take home one victory in their doubleheader against the Ellensburg Bulldogs; they dropped game one 10-6 but rallied in game two with a dominant 12-2 victory.
In game one, the Tigers were competitive with the Bulldogs through the first two innings, even holding a lead at one point. Going into the third inning, they held a 6-4 lead until the Bulldogs started pulling away and keeping the Tigers from scoring any runs.
Kaydence Hector executed two hits and two RBIs. Jaemyson Durfee successfully stole a base in game one.
Game two was a different story for the Tigers. Hector and Dakota Durfee led the way with home runs. Hector also racked up five RBIs and was one of four players to have a stolen base. Olivia Bicandova had a strong pitching performance for the Tigers. Out of 88 total pitches, she only allowed four hits, two runs, and strung together four strikeouts.
The Tigers came out hot in the first three innings, scoring six runs. The Bulldogs responded with two runs in the second inning but fell off after that. In the final two innings, the Tigers scored six more runs to seal a landslide victory.
