COLUMBIA BASIN — This week’s goings-on in the Basin include a car wash, an off-season farmers market, fundraiser auctions, movies and more. Here are some suggestions:  


March 28 


Movie Day at the Library 

Free showing of newly released animated Disney movie "Moana 2." This movie is rated PG and runs 2 hours. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ animated musical reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. Moana must journey into long-lost waters for an adventure. Some flashing lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers. Feel free to bring snacks to nibble on while watching the movie, just clean up after yourself before you leave. 1 and 3 p.m. at the Quincy Public Library, 208 Central Ave. S. Info: 509-787-2359. 


‘Sherlock Jr.’

Spring Clean Giveaway 

Bring whatever clothing or home items you’d like to get rid of or just come and grab the items others bring. 9 a.m. setup for those bringing items, giveaway begins at 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lakeview Missionary Church, 810 S. Evergreen Drive, Moses Lake. Info: https://www.lakeviewmissionarychurch.com


Your Road Home workshop 

This workshop presents attendees with a road map to planning how to put the consumer in a position to buy a new home. Speed puzzle competition 

Show your jigsaw chops with this high-speed challenge. Each team of four will be given the same puzzle to complete in two hours. At the conclusion of the contest, each team will take home the puzzle and the first team to finish will get a grand prize. The cost of entry is $50 and will include a puzzle, water, sparkling water, special discounts and the thrill of quick puzzling. 5 p.m. at Sandbox Bookstore and Games, 102 E. Wampum 

Fundraiser auction to benefit Wheat Land Communities Fair. Live and silent auctions, plus dinner catered by Rollin’ Coal Barbecue. April 1 


Meditation at the Museum 

Meditation is a grounding practice that helps you to know yourself better, appreciate yourself and others more, and allows you to get more relaxed. Mindfulness practice helps us consciously cultivate a sense of connection, calm and well-being so that our day-to-day lives can have more meaning and ease. In this class, you will learn the foundational practices that calm and steady the mind, develop meditation techniques, explore ways you can be more present and mindful in everyday life, learn and practice together with others, and ask questions to share in the experience. Community Spaghetti Feed 

Celebrate Autism Awareness Month with the Autism Support Group of Grant County. Grant County has been instrumental in supporting families affected by autism, ensuring they feel connected and never isolated, and this is the Autism Support Group’s way of thanking the community. Each plate is $1 at the door and features spaghetti with or without meatballs, a salad, a dinner roll and cookies while supplies last. 5:30-7:30 at the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce, 61 Basin St. NW. April 2 


Kinder Registration 

Children in the Royal School District who turn 5 on or before Aug. 31 are eligible to attend kindergarten in the fall and can register at this event. Quincy Booster Car Wash

Meet other folks who are passionate about supporting Washington's local meat sector.
