Othello man arrested after Moses Lake standoff
MOSES LAKE — An Othello man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for hit and run and outstanding warrants after he briefly barricaded himself in a Moses Lake home.
Jordan Blaak, 26, was arrested for failing to yield to a police vehicle as well as the hit and run charge and the warrants, wrote Moses Lake Police Department Capt. Jeff Sursely in a statement.
Sursely said Grant County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a recklessly driven vehicle on Stratford Road near Maple Drive. Deputies broke off the pursuit; about five minutes later, MLPD officers were notified of a traffic collision near the intersection of Valley Road and Central Drive.
“Arriving officers determined the vehicle involved was the same vehicle the sheriff’s department was chasing earlier,” Sursely said. “The driver of the suspect vehicle fled to an address on Clark (Road) and barricaded in the home of a friend.”
Sursely said the case was not related to a drive-by Friday night that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy.
“Officers set a perimeter on the residence and negotiated the suspect’s surrender,” he said.
